Beauty Uses of Baking Soda

Who would have thought baking soda would be such a great use for so many things? From baking to household cleaning to even skin care, beauty and health! Similar to olive oil, baking soda is an essential product for several purposes! The following are some of the beauty and healthy magic of baking soda:

1. Facial and Body Exfoliating Scrub
Aside from the common homemade sugar face scrub, baking soda and water mixed together is a great facial scrub alternative, which is gentle enough for daily use. Simply mix 3 parts of baking soda and 1 part of water to create a paste and gently exfoliate your skin using a circular motion. This paste can also be used as a body exfoliating scrub. This will leave your skin nice and smooth.

2. Hair Brush Cleanser
Cleansing your hair brushes is an essential part of your beauty maintenance. Oil and hair products residue get stuck in between those bristles and not cleaning it can add bacteria into your scalp and hair. Soak your brushes into a mix of a teaspoon of baking soda and some vinegar for a cleaner and fresher smell brushes!

3. Foot Care
Whether you have stinky feet or not, having a long day with your shoes on the whole time can create unpleasant smell due to sweat. Mix 1 part of baking soda and two parts of vinegar within a small container of water then soak your feet for 20-25 minutes. This is also a great way to exfoliate an extremely dry and flaky feet. Go watch a movie or read a book while you relax. You’ll feel very refreshed right after this little treatment!

4. Dry Shampoo
I don’t know about you but I tend to find dry shampoos at the drug store quite expensive. Sometimes, I can’t even bear the strong smell of the chemicals. A natural way to refresh your second day hair is to sprinkle some baking soda on your hair brush then brush it through. You can also sprinkle some right onto your scalp and use your hands to blend it.

5. Hair Care
Mix a teaspoon of baking soda with your shampoo when you wash your hair to get rid of any shampoo, conditioner, hairspray, and other strong hair product build up. This will leave your hair nice and smooth.

There are plenty of other ways on how you can benefit from the use of baking soda.
